Die Handlung fühlte sich ein bisschen unausgeglichen an, und die Charakterentwicklung war ungleichmäßig. Es ist kein schlechtes Buch, aber es stach nicht heraus unter anderen Büchern, die ich über ähnliche Themen gelesen habe. Das Buch bietet eine gründliche Untersuchung der Aufgaben und Entscheidungen, mit denen Entwicklungsmanager sich auseinandersetzen müssen. Die Schreibweise ebook ein wahrer Meilenstein, eine Meisterklasse in Sprache und Form, die mich atemlos und voller Vorfreude auf mehr zurückließ, wie eine Tür, die sich zu einer bisher unbekannten Welt öffnet. Bücher können eine Quelle des Trostes sein, aber Muskatnuß und Musketen – Europas Wettlauf nach Ostindien können auch ein Weckruf sein, der uns zwingt, unbequeme Wahrheiten zu konfrontieren. Und doch, trotz der offensichtlichen Kunstfertigkeit, konnte die Geschichte kein Feuer in mir entfachen, sondern ließ es wie Glut auf einer kalten, dunklen Nacht schwelen.
